This Spatial Data Boot Camp site and boot camps are sponsored by the iPlant Collaborative and the Arizona Environmental Grid Infrastructure Service (AEGIS).
One day Intro to SDBC (Spatial Data Boot Camp)
This boot camp modeled after successful software carpentry boot camps, is designed to introduce researchers to various data formats, open source tools to manage, share and visualize spatial data.
Target audience:
Researchers working with data that containing location/positional information (lat, long) and need to:
- Choose appropriate data formats, perform QA/QC
- Transform these datasets between appropriate formats to enable further analysis/sharing
- Visualize data on maps using dekstop and web-based tools
- Share spatial data using standard compliant methods
- Access data from federal, regional repositories and perform analysis
What you need
Please have the following completed before attending the Boot Camp:
- QGIS installed
- registered iPlant account
- iRods QGIS plugin installed
Steps to these are provided under Setup. Assistance will also be provided before the Boot Camp begins.
Please arrive at 8:30AM if installation and configuration assistance is needed.

First boot camp will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 from 9:00AM to 5:00PM.
